Build your home or addition on a solid foundation designed to last generations in Weslaco's unique soil conditions.

Your foundation is literally what your entire home rests on. Everything else, from your walls to your roof, depends on a solid, level foundation that does not crack, settle, or shift. In Weslaco and throughout the Rio Grande Valley, our clay-rich soil expands when wet and contracts when dry. This constant movement puts extra stress on foundations.
That is why WSL Weslaco Concrete takes foundation work seriously. We have poured hundreds of slabs in this area, and we understand exactly what it takes to build a foundation that stays strong despite our challenging soil conditions. We use proven techniques and quality materials to ensure your foundation will support your home for decades to come.
Whether you are building a new home, adding a room, constructing a garage, or putting up a shed, the foundation work needs to be done right. Cutting corners on your foundation today leads to expensive repairs tomorrow. We do not take shortcuts, and we stand behind every slab we pour.
This is the most common foundation type in our area, and for good reason. A slab-on-grade foundation is a single layer of concrete poured directly on the ground. It combines your foundation and floor into one solid piece. This design works well in warm climates like ours where frost heave is not a concern. Slab foundations are cost-effective, quick to install, and provide excellent support when properly built with the right site preparation.
A monolithic slab is poured all at once, including the thickened edges that act as the footing. This creates an extremely strong foundation because there are no joints or seams where cracks can develop. Monolithic slabs are perfect for homes, garages, and shops. They require less labor and cure faster than traditional foundations with separate footings, which can save you both time and money.
For properties with slopes or drainage concerns, a stem wall foundation raises your structure above ground level. We pour concrete footings below the frost line, then build short concrete walls (the stem walls) on top of the footings. Finally, we pour the slab inside the stem walls. This design provides excellent drainage, keeps your structure level on uneven ground, and adds extra protection from water.
Foundation work is not just about pouring concrete. Most of the work happens before we ever mix a batch. We start by carefully surveying your site and testing the soil. This tells us if we need extra compaction, special drainage, or deeper footings. Every property is different, and we adjust our approach based on what your specific site needs.
Next comes excavation and base preparation. We dig to the proper depth and grade everything for proper drainage. Water should always flow away from your foundation, never toward it. We then compact the soil and add a layer of gravel base material. This creates a stable platform that resists settling and provides good drainage beneath your slab.
We install a moisture barrier (typically plastic sheeting) over the gravel to prevent ground moisture from wicking up through your concrete. Then we place the rebar grid or steel reinforcement according to engineering specifications. This reinforcement ties the entire slab together and prevents cracks from spreading if the ground does shift slightly over time.
On pour day, we bring in the proper concrete mix and place it carefully to avoid voids or weak spots. We use professional equipment to level and finish the surface to exact specifications. The concrete needs to cure properly, so we protect it from rapid drying and extreme temperatures for the first week. Proper curing is just as important as proper pouring.
Once your foundation is complete, you have a solid platform ready for construction. We also handle other concrete work like driveways and walkways to complete your project.
