Beautiful Concrete That Looks Like Natural Stone

Stamped concrete lets you enjoy the beauty of expensive materials without the high cost or maintenance headaches. We pour regular concrete, then use special stamps to create realistic patterns that look like slate, flagstone, cobblestone, brick, wood planks, or tile. After stamping, we add color and texture to complete the look.

The result is stunning. Your neighbors will think you spent a fortune on natural stone pavers. But you will know you got the same elegant appearance for much less money, and your surface will not shift, sink, or grow weeds between the stones like real pavers do. WSL Weslaco Concrete has installed decorative concrete throughout Weslaco and the Rio Grande Valley, and we can show you dozens of pattern and color combinations.

Stamped concrete works beautifully for driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, and entryways. It gives you that high-end custom look that makes your property stand out in your neighborhood. Plus, it holds up to our Texas heat, heavy rain, and daily use better than many natural materials.

Endless Design Possibilities

Popular Stamped Patterns

We offer a wide variety of stamp patterns to match any style. Some of our most requested patterns include:

  • Ashlar slate with irregular rectangular stones
  • Random stone for a natural flagstone appearance
  • Cobblestone for a classic European courtyard feel
  • Running bond brick for traditional elegance
  • Wood plank to mimic hardwood decking
  • Seamless texture for a smooth stone look
  • Fan pattern for decorative borders

Color Options

Color transforms stamped concrete from ordinary to extraordinary. We use two methods to add color. The base color is mixed right into the concrete or applied as a dry shake hardener on the surface. Then we add accent colors with antiquing stains that settle into the texture lines, creating depth and making the pattern look even more realistic. You can choose earth tones like tans, browns, and grays, or go bolder with reds, blues, or greens.

Other Decorative Finishes

Stamped concrete is not your only decorative option. We also offer exposed aggregate, which reveals the beautiful stones within the concrete mix for a natural, durable surface. Stained concrete uses acid stains or water-based dyes to add rich, variegated colors to existing or new concrete. Polished concrete creates a glossy, modern finish perfect for interior floors. And scored concrete uses cuts to create tile-like patterns or geometric designs.

We can combine techniques too. A stamped patio with a contrasting colored border, or a driveway with both stamped and smooth sections. Your creativity is the only limit.

How We Create Decorative Concrete

Creating beautiful stamped concrete requires skill, timing, and the right techniques. We start with all the same preparation steps as any quality concrete project: proper excavation, compacted base, reinforcement, and the correct concrete mix. This foundation work ensures your decorative surface will last for decades.

Once we pour the concrete, timing becomes critical. We add the color hardener while the concrete is still workable. Then, as the concrete begins to set, we apply a release agent that prevents the stamps from sticking. Next comes the actual stamping, where we press large mats into the concrete to create the pattern. This step requires experience because the concrete needs to be firm enough to hold the pattern but soft enough to accept the stamp.

After stamping, we let the concrete cure for a day or two, then wash off the release agent and apply antiquing stain to enhance the texture. Finally, we seal the entire surface with a high-quality sealer that protects the color, makes the surface easier to clean, and adds a subtle sheen that makes the pattern pop. The sealer also protects against stains from oil, grease, and other spills.

Proper sealing is key to long-term beauty. We recommend resealing every 2 to 3 years to maintain protection and keep your stamped concrete looking fresh. This simple maintenance preserves your investment and keeps your decorative concrete looking like new for years to come.
